Marion Mitchell (78) a native of Darrow, a resident of Donaldsonville and a licensed cosmetologist for over fifty years passed away October 8, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Memorial Hospital. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized in 1948 by Reverend Austin Thomas at Mount Zion Baptist Church which later became Word of Life Christian Center where she faithfully continued to serve as an usher, a Sunday school teacher, a Vacation Bible School Coordinator, and an altar worker under the leadership of Apostle Leroy Thompson, Sr. She completed her early education at Lowery High School and then enrolled in Capital Area Vocational School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she received her cosmetology license. Continuing her education in Beauty Culture, she attended the National Institute of Cosmetology where she received her bachelor's and Master's degree. She has been a pioneer for many aspiring beauticians. She showed great compassion helping others and leading them to Christ. Marion is survived by her spouse, Charles Mitchell, 1 son Dale Mitchell (Barbara), 2 daughters Cathy Robertson (Gerald) and Gail Moore (Lawrence), 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, 1 sister, 1 brother, 1 daughter and 1 son. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 9:00 AM at The Word of Life Christian Center at 40066 Highway 22, Darrow, Louisiana 70725. Service will begin at 11:00 AM, at The Word of Life Christian Center, Apostle Leroy Thompson, Sr. Burial will follow in Word of Life Christian Center Cemetery in Darrow, Louisiana.
