Marie C. Runkles
Fortified with the sacrament of the Holy Mother Church, Marie C. Runkles, nee Marsch, 92, Wright City, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living, Warrenton. Marie was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Dorsey, Ill., the daughter of Walter Marsch and wife Amanda, nee Giessmann. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wentzville. Marie also was a volunteer at Mary Martha Thrift Shop, Wentzville, and at her church. She worked for the Wentzville Garment Factory and GW Fiberglass Company in O'Fallon. Marie enjoyed embroidery, reading, yardwork and being outdoors. Most of all, she greatly loved her family and spending time with them. Marie was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Marie is survived by her three sons, Gary L. (Janet) Runkles, Plant City, Fla., Martin (Helen) Runkles, Wright City, and Raymond Runkles, Wentzville; two daughters, Margaret (Craig) Pailer, Wright City, and Jean (George Aaron) Fuerst, Wentzville; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Runkles, and parents, Walter and Amanda Marsch. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 6, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wentzville. Interment followed in St. Charles Memorial Gardens, St. Charles. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, the American Heart Association or as Masses to the church, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.
