Mrs. Marie Day Harrison, 101, Candlewick Dr., passed on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at Laurels of Salisbury. Born on Aug. 13, 1915 in the District of Columbia, she was the daughter of the late John Edward Day and Carrie Grass Day. She was educated in the public schools of Washington, D.C. and was a graduate of Armstrong High School, Washington, D.C. Mrs. Harrison was a homemaker. As a member of Purity Baptist Church and Trinidad Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., she was an active choir member as a soprano soloist. Upon relocating to Salisbury, she became a member of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church and served on the Life Members Council and the Parent Body of Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Alfred Joseph Green; daughter, Patricia Harrison McBride; grandson, Andre Warren; granddaughter, Veronica Jean Green; and great-granddaughter, Talaya Patterson. Those left to cherish her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Dr. Grant and Dr. Joanne Harrison Jr. of the home; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; other relatives; and friends. Service and Visitation: Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow services at Oakdale Cemetery.
