Marian Irene Crump Taylor
Marian Irene Crump Taylor Ripley, TN Marian Irene Crump Taylor was born August 31, 1931 in Fruitland, Idaho. She was one of eight children. Her father died when she was 5 years old. Her widowed mother reared eight children, never receiving a dime of welfare. Irene graduated from high school in Nampa, Idaho in 1949. She earned many honors in her high school days. In 1950 she enrolled in Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee, graduating from there in 1952. There she met Robert R. Taylor, Jr., and they were married on September 15, 1952. They were married 64 plus years before her death on January 12, 2017. She is survived by her husband, a daughter Rebecca who is married to Phil Davis, a son Tim who is married to Sherra Williams, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She never did get to see in person the great-grandson who was born December 9, 2016 in Clemmons, North Carolina. In the workplace she served as a Secretary in the Tennessee Department of Safety and as a bookkeeper for various businesses. She was a stay at home Mom until both children were grown. She became a Christian during the mid-1940's and served the Lord faithfully and fervently for more than seventy years. She taught Bible Classes for women and children for sixty years. She pioneered in speaking for Ladies' Days from coast to coast and from the Great Lakes to the sunny swept Gulf Coast. She was an excellent writer possessing a wonderful way with words. She was a writer of religious poetry. She authored three books all of which are still in print. She had a wit second to none. She brought laughter to many lips and wholesome joy to many hearts. She was multi-talented, great in character and spotless in reputation. It was often said of her "It is easier to be good when around Irene!" She was an active member of the Ripley, Tennessee church of Christ for more than forty-two years. Visitation will be at 10:00 Saturday morning at the meeting house of the Ripley Church of Christ with the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery near Bradford, Tennessee at 3:00 Saturday afternoon. Memorials may be sent to the Ripley Church of Christ, P.O. Box 464, 38063; the Memphis School of Preaching at 3950 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis 38125; or the Cusco, Peru Mission Work in care of Estes Church of Christ, P.O. Box 191, Henderson, TN 38340.
