Marian Lyon Foss October 10, 1932 - October 13, 2016 Marian Lyon Foss, 84, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Mckay Dee Hospital following a car accident. She was born October 10, 1932 in Sharon, Idaho to Thomas Edward Lyon and Camilla Agnes Smith. She was the second oldest of seven children, her being the only daughter. She grew up in Sharon, attending elementary school there. She later attended Fielding High School in Paris, where she completed twelfth grade and was a drill majorette for the band. Marian had a beautiful alto voice so music was a big part of her life. Throughout the years, she sang with many people in duets, trios, and quartets and sang at many, many funerals. Among her many music accomplishments, she recorded a record with Kathy Kunz, George Lyon and three of his sons. She sang in many choirs including high school, ward and Cantatas. She also sang with the Chordbusters for 26 years. The last group of woman she sang with was the Madhatters which brought much joy to her life. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held ward positions in the young women's and as chorister in the Georgetown and Montpelier Second Ward. She married Kenneth Foss July 7, 1951. They were later divorced. Marian is survived by three daughters, Tonya of Montpelier, Vicki (Ed) Saxton of Clearfield, and Melanie (Derik) West of Logan; six grandchildren, Dustin (Krista) Saxton of Ammon, Melissa (Casey) Larson of Burley, Chivon (Lindon) Transtrum of St. Charles, Riley and Hunter West of Logan and Britnee (Connor) Kent of Provo; five brothers, Verlin, O'Neal, Melvin, Bruce, and Max; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Wendy, and one brother, Lynn. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, at 1:00 pm in the Montpelier Second Ward chapel. Friends and family may call there also Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm and again on Friday morning from 11 to 12:45pm prior to the services. Interment will be in the Liberty cemetery with services under the direction of Schwab-Matthews Mortuary.
