Maria C. Ieraci
MERIDEN - Maria C. (Sainato) Ieraci, 90, of Meriden, beloved wife of the late Francesco Ieraci, peacefully entered into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, in her home. Maria was born in Gioiosa Jonica, Province of Reggio Calabria, Italy, Feb. 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Giuseppe Sainato and Filomena (Calvi) Sainato, and had been a Meriden resident since 1968. She was employed as a seamstress at the former Rita Bridal Shop in Meriden, and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Her greatest joy in life was her large and loving family. Her husband, children, and later her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her focal point in life, and brought her great joy and happiness. Her family was everything to her, and naturally in turn, she was everything to her family. She loved to cook, tend to her vegetable garden, and visit her beloved Gioiosa Jonica. Maria was a woman of deep faith and held a strong devotion to Padre Pio, and often prayed to him. She will be missed always by her loving family. She is survived by her six devoted children and spouses, Rosa Agostino, of Meriden, Giuseppe Ieraci and his wife, Teresa, Natale Ieraci, Raffaele Ieraci and his wife, Anna Maria, all of Meriden, Filomena Totino and her husband, Rocco, of Wallingford, and Antonio Ieraci and his wife, Meredith, of Meriden; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by family in Italy, Canada, Argentina, and Australia. She was predeceased by an infant brother; and an infant sister; her daughter-in-law, Diane Israel Ieraci; and her son-in-law, Giuseppe Agostino. Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 4 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Meriden, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.
