Margarette Wampold
Margarette "Peggy" (LeSueur) Wampold, 74, of Tolland, beloved wife of the late A. David Wampold, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Born in New Orleans, LA, the daughter of the late Lt.Col. John T. LeSueur, USAF and Margarette (Weed) LeSueur, she grew up in New Orleans and lived in Baton Rouge, LA before moving to Connecticut in 1970. She has lived in Tolland for 42 years. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University, Class of 1963. Prior to her retirement in 2004, Peggy was employed for over 20 years by the Town of Vernon Social Services. She was a longtime member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Bolton. Peggy loved all animals, but was especially fond of her Irish Setters. She served as President of the South Windsor Kennel club. She was also a delegate to the American Kennel Club, who honored her with their Visionary Award. Peggy was a member of the Irish Setter Club of Central Connecticut and Vice President of the New England Sporting Dog Association. She is survived by her children, Michael Wampold of Manchester, David Wampold of Gautier, MS, and Stephen Wampold and his wife Lisa of Marlborough; three adored grandchildren, Max, Daphne, and Molly Wampold, several nieces, nephews, and her very dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Lt. Col. John T. LeSueur, USAF. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon.
