In memory of
Margaret Sutton
Margaret Sutton passed away early Monday morning, October 10, 2016 just 3 weeks before her 92nd birthday. Margaret was born November 1, 1924 in East St. Louis, Illinois where she grew up. Though she was a city girl, she adored visiting her grandparents' farm not far away. As a youth, Margaret loved to tap dance. Later she enjoyed dancing with her husband to the big bands of the 40's. In 1947 Margaret married her husband of 69 years, Lester Sutton. She and Lester soon moved to Los Angeles. She went to work in a bookkeeping office of Silverwoods department store, and she enjoyed life in the new city dancing, sun bathing at the beach, attending USC Trojan football games. While in Southern California, Margaret worked for the US Navy at Pt. Mugu and Pt. Arguello. After moving to Lompoc Margaret gave up her job to be a housewife and mother when their only daughter, Kim, was born. Although she was very proud of her time with the Navy, Margaret considered being a mother her most important occupation. Margaret was also active in a service sorority and at Peace Lutheran Church in Lompoc. In the second half of her life she joined Republican Women, serving in many offices. Margaret was known for her thoroughness and accuracy of work. After Lester's retirement they moved to Murrieta and traveled widely before their final move to Redwood Valley in 2004. Margaret loved telling travel stories and talking politics. Her joys in life were spending time with grandson David, doting on her pets and watching a good horserace. And whenever a football game was onGo Trojans, Go! She was predeceased by sister, Nedra Carr and survived by husband Lester Sutton, daughter and son-in-law Kim and Boyd Shelton, grandson David Shelton, and niece Lisa Carr. A service will be held at 2:30, Tuesday, Oct. 17 in the Ukiah Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements under the direction of the Eversole Mortuary
