Margaret Opalenik, 90, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully Friday, April 14, 2017, in the Center for Compassionate Care, Mt. Lebanon. Born July 31, 1926, in Duquesne, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Kotrody) Petrisko. A member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton, Margaret was a champion bowler who enjoyed her "mall walks," going shopping, eating out, working on puzzles, spending time with family, dancing, and music. Known for her sense of humor, she also volunteered at Jefferson Hospital and the McKeesport Women's Shelter. She joins her husband, the late Paul Opalenik; and her siblings, Martha Petrisko, Mary Babic, Michael, John, and George Petrisko, Ann Mrvos, Peter Petrisko, and Martha Repper. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Opalenik, of Mt. Lebanon, and Cheryl (David Mark) Funk, of Cranberry; her grandchildren, Justin, Zachary, and Addison; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at a memorial gathering in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 N. 2nd. Ave., Elizabeth, PA 15037 (412-384-4344).
