Margaret E. Moss AGE: 79 • Ledgewood Moss, Margaret E. "Bette", age 79, of Ledgewood, NJ passed away unexpectedly at Morristown Medical Center on June 16, 2016. A private celebration of her life was held in Andover Township, NJ. Born to the late Lawrence and Mary J. (Halligan) Barkman, Margaret was known by most as Bette. She grew up in Bernardsville, NJ and graduated from Bernardsville High School. After high school graduation, Bette trained as a baby nurse at The New York Foundling Hospital. While she was employed at All Souls Hospital in Morristown, she met her future husband John Moss on a blind date arranged by her friend and colleague. After marrying and making several moves throughout New Jersey and New York, John and Bette settled in Mendham, NJ. They raised their family in Mendham and enjoyed living there for close to 30 years. Bette was employed as manager of the Country Store at Larison's Turkey Farm in Chester, NJ for over twenty years. In 1998, John and Bette moved to Ledgewood, NJ where they enjoyed their retirement years together traveling and spending time with family and friends. Bette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She especially cherished her close relationship with her grandson, Connor. Bette loved gardening, baking, traveling, interior decorating, party planning, reading, and wool rug hooking. She was well known for her generosity, creativity, optimistic attitude, sense of humor and love for her family and friends. Margaret was pre deceased by her parents, Lawrence and Mary J. Barkman and her sister Janis Santucci. Survivors include her beloved husband John, her daughter Jonna McKnight of Andover Township NJ and her husband Mark, her son Craig Moss of Ledgewood NJ, her sister Mary Gallion of Cumberland, MD and her grandson Connor McKnight of Andover Township NJ. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Elizabeth Steadman of Binghamton, NY and Emily Darrow of New Milford, PA along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Bette is truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org .
