Margaret Louise Smith Mayo BELVOIR - Margaret Louise Smith Mayo, 86, died Monday, February 13, 2017. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11 am in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to and following the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Mayo, daughter of the late Levy Dawson and Eva Jones Smith, was a Pitt County native and spent her early life in the Chicod community. Following her marriage she resided in the Belvoir community. Through the years she attended Gum Swamp Free Will Baptist Church, Freedom Baptist Church and was a founding member of Lighthouse Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ed Mayo; son-in-law, Pastor John Hill; and granddaughter-in-law, Samantha Fox. She is survived by her: sons, Charles Ed Mayo, Jr. and wife, Beverly Anne, of Garner and Gary Wayne Mayo and wife Jody Lynn, of Greenville; daughter, Anliza Jane Mayo Fox, of Greenville; grandchildren, David Fox, Jr. and wife, Christie, of Clayton Margo Fox, of Greenville, Sean's father, Patrick Hoagland; and Kyle Smith, of Raleigh, great-grandchildren, Sean Hoagland, Trip Fox, and Beau Fox; brothers, Cleveland Smith and wife, Hope, of Greenville and Kenneth Smith and wife, Marilyn, of Garner; sister, Sue Smith of Winston-Salem and best friend and care giver, Angela Council Moore of Greenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Gum Swamp Free Will Baptist Church, Ladies Auxiliary, Gum Swamp Free Will Baptist Church, 2072 Gum Swamp Church Rd., Greenville, NC 27834.
