Born on July 18, 1920 in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena Bowers Yates. She grew up in Roanoke and helped her mother as they housed people in their home to raise extra income. It was there she met her husband, Wallas Hylton. They have shared over 75 years of marriage and on April 11th, they would have celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary. In May of 1960, they moved to Salisbury. She was skilled with her hands as an accomplished Seamstress and excelled with many types of Needlework, with her passion being knitting. She had a love for plants and cats. Margaret was active with Bethany Bible Chapel during her varying stages of life. In her earlier years, she was a Sunday school teacher and active with Child Evangelism Fellowship as well as hosting neighborhood kids clubs. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and truly was a Godly model for many. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Warren Hylton in 2007 and one granddaughter, Meredith Hylton in 2016. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wallas Hylton; son, Bill and wife Nancy Talley Hylton; daughter, Pam Hylton Coffield and husband Hodge Coffield, all of Salisbury and daughter-in-law, Kathy Hylton St Clair of Augusta, GA.
