In memory of
KRAUSE, Marcus Thomas Marcus Thomas Krause, age 55, died at Tranquility of Kennesaw Mountain Hospice in Marietta, Georgia on April 15, 2017. Born on July 13, 1961, in Lincoln, Nebraska, he lived in Missouri, Florida, and attended the University of Alabama before settling in Georgia. Marc, a freelance photographer, captured special memories of families and friends during weddings and family events. He also shot corporate activities, architecture, and people and places of interest, including the Champions Dinner at the Masters Tournament and many blues artists. Marc generously volunteered his time and talents at the Agape Family and Community Center, the Atlanta Food Bank, the Thornwell Home for Children, and Trinity Presbyterian Church. Marc served as a Stephen Ministry Leader and supported others with hope, love, humor, courage, and faith. During Marc's journey he befriended the leadership teams and employees of Guardant Health and Flatiron Health, two entrepreneurial oncology companies whose work he inspired and whose efforts gave him hope. Survivors include his first and last love, Amy Hagan Krause, and three daughters, Emily Burdette Walls (Benjamin), Kristen Elizabeth Burdette, and Kendall Marie Krause; parents Martha Chance Dervish (Turgut) and Richard Alfred Krause (Katherine); sisters Emel Partridge (Philip), Alev Dervish (Brian Rhinehart), Kimberly Krause Brewer (Mark), and brother Michael Krause. He was preceded in death by niece Kaitlyn Krause, cousin Patrick Roberts Chance, uncle Kenneth Roberts Chance, maternal grandparents Marie and Henry Thomas Chance, and paternal grandparents Jeanne Johnston and Richard Alfred Krause. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 21 at 11:00 AM, 3003 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, GA. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception immediately following at the church. A donor advised fund has been established in memory of Marc with the Community Foundation for the CSRA to recognize his commitment to service, caring, and philanthropy to a multitude of non-profit organizations. One particular organization, the Agape Family and Community Center, was dear to Marc. Agape's mission is to provide support for the education and welfare of over 200 children in the Bolton Road Community. Agape means "selfless love" which aptly describes the contributions and warmth Marc displayed in serving and inspiring others. Some funds will be used to establish a dedicated space in the new Agape building to exhibit Marc's photographic talents, to inspire the young people there to pursue an arts education, and to award scholarships to enable young aspiring artists to fulfill their dreams. A separate fund will enable us to continue work in Marc's name. Please send tributes, tax deductible donations, to The Community Foundation for the CSRA, Marcus Krause Fund, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903.
