In memory of
Marcia Wittman Marcia Diane Peters Wittman, 72, Topeka, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016, at the House at Midland Care. Marcia was born March 27, 1944, in Smith Center KS, the only child of Eugene and Belva Erdman Peters. She spent her early years on her parents farm where she began her love of animals, especially her horse, Silver. Marcia attended Most Pure Heart of Mary grade school and graduated from Hayden High School in 1962. Marcia and Gerald Wittman were united in marriage in 1964 and to this union two sons were born. They later divorced. Marcia worked as an accountant for MRV Inc. until her illness. Her love for her work and co-workers was immense. She was a talented artist and loved watching sports, especially her favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Royals, K-State and KU; but what she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family. Marcia was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, she enjoyed attending sporting events and school grandparents days, or just watching re-runs of the Brady Bunch. Traditions were important to her, like giving a Christmas ornament to each of her grandchildren on their birthday. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Grateful to have shared her life are her sons, Gavin Wittman (Daylene), Topeka, and David Wittman (Lori), Shawnee; and grandchildren, Ashlyn Wittman, Thomas Wittman, Jordan VanAuken, Lucas Anderson, Dawson Wittman, Mitchell Wittman and Jake Wittman. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Harry Bus Bartlett. A parish rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church followed by visitation in the Church until 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society or Midland Care Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
