Marcelene M. Schwegler Virginia Beach - Marcelene M. Schwegler, 89, of Virginia Beach passed away October 11, 2016. Marcy was a former Mrs. Virginia in 1953 and a finalist in the Mrs. America pageant. Family was very important to Marcy and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always determined to do what was best for her family. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Virginia Beach where she was a former Sunday School Superintendent and Bible School volunteer. Marcy was a graduate of Old Dominion University and received her business degree while playing an active role in the family business. Marcy was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Walter F. Schwegler and two sisters, Louise Poole and Betty Ann Mabe and one brother, Billy Ray Mabe. Lovingly remembering Marcy are her three daughters, Shannon S. Doolittle and her husband Robert E. Doolittle; Ingrid S. Tant; and Rebecca "Becky" S. Baer; six grandchildren, Shea Doolittle Paisley (Andy), Shelley Doolittle Fulmer (Tim), Walter Christopher Tant (Lauren), Robert Wesley Tant (Tiffany), Brittany Renee' Baer and Kyle Christopher Baer; seven great grandchildren, Andrew Stewart Paisley, Turner Ellsworth Paisley, Ryan Walter Fulmer, Riley Elizabeth Fulmer, Cade Le May, Thomas Joseph Tant and Lauren Anne-Marie Tant; and two brothers, James Mabe and Michael Evans. Interment will be private at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1489 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, by Pastor Scott Mims. A reception will follow in the church hall where the family will receive and visit with friends. H. D.
