Manuel "Manny" F. Garcia, 82, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away January 7, 2017 in Wichita. Manny's life began on January 8, 1934 in Stratford, TX, the son of Rafael and Luz Garcia. He graduated from high school in Stratford and served his country in the United States Army. Manny lived and worked for many years in Guymon, OK. He was employed by the Panhandle Eastern Oil Company for many years. Manny never knew a stranger and his friendliness brought him many friends throughout his life. He refereed high school football and basketball in Guymon, helped out at the Guymon Elks Lodge as a bartender and cook. Manny loved sports and was active with the Butler Community College booster club and would travel all over Butler County supporting kids he knew in Leon, Rosalia and El Dorado. He was united in marriage to the light of his life Nelda on October 1, 1994 in El Dorado. Manny's loving family includes his wife Nelda Garcia of El Dorado, stepson Scott (Teresa) Day of Ozawkie, stepdaughter Robin Day of Wichita, stepdaughter Carol McClendon of Richardson, TX and stepdaughter Terri (Jeffery) Anderson of Liberty Hill, TX; several grandchildren, brother Alfonso (Anna) Garcia of Goodyear, AZ and Sue (Harvey) White of Hobbs, NM. Manny passed away on January 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita. He is preceded in death by sister Eva Gallegos and Ralph Garcia. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Manny will be laid to rest with military honors in Economy Cemetery.
