MATNEY, Malda Malda Matney, 89, of Austin, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Born on September 15, 1927, she was one of six children born to Harrison and Eula Snow. In 1950, Malda married Warren Matney of Lubbock, Texas. Shortly after, Malda and Warren moved to Austin, Texas where they opened shoe departments in the Yaring's stores. Malda worked part time with her husband for many years handling the payroll and working in the shoe stores. She also was a full time mom raising three children. During retirement, Malda enjoyed volunteering and drinking coffee at Dart Bowl. She also spent many hours in the kitchen preparing meals and baking sweets for her friends and family. It was special to receive one of her cakes or pies. Malda and her husband spent many days at their lake house in Kingsland, Texas, boating and skiing with their kids and grandkids. Malda is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Matney. Malda is survived by her three children, Larry and wife Leslie, Debbie Fredrickson and husband Gregg, and Corky and wife Dawn; her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grand Prix Scholarship Program, 5700 Grover Avenue, Austin, TX 78756. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Sunday, October16, 2016 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, Burnet, Texas. Later the same day,friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering from 4:30-6:30 P.M. at the Double Tree Hotel, 8901 Business Park Drive, Austin, Texas.
