Malachi Lee "Mali" Thomas
Malachi Lee "Mali" Thomas, 14, of Rockwood, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017. Malachi was born Aug. 30, 2002, in Knoxville, but he was a longtime resident of Rockwood. He attended Trinity Word of Faith Church in Rockwood. He was an eighth grader at Rockwood Middle School. He had aspirations of being a diesel mechanic when he grew up. Malachi had a huge heart, he enjoyed being in the woods at "his fort," and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a loving son and a great big brother. He enjoyed riding his bike, hanging with his friends and listening to music. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Janie and Russell Thomas; and great-grandparents, Clifford and Lorene Hunter, and John and Ola Faye Willis. He is survived by mother, Heather Thomas (boyfriend Chris Brock) of Rockwood; father, Russell Thomas of Harriman; brothers and sisters, Ian Thomas, Kristian Thomas, Titan Byrge, Micah Thomas and Promise Thomas; grandparents, James and Dean Willis of Rockwood and Marcella Willis; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Willis and Bro. Rick Shaffer officiating. Graveside and interment services will follow in the Piney Grove cemetery in Midtown.
