Mae Emma Bell, 88, departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016. She was affectionately known as "Babe" and was born April 5, 1928, in Athens, Ga., to Harrison and Carrie Jones Handy. She came to Chattanooga as a teenager and soon united with Phillips Temple CME church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for years. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Larry (Aleta) Bray; grandsons, Carlton (Deanne) Bell, Cedric (Karin) Bray and Harrison Bell Jr.; granddaughters, Nicole Bell, Tabitha Bell, Tiffany Bell, Atesia (A.J.) Mastin; a host of great-grandsons, great-granddaughters; nephews, nieces and friends. The life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, in the Chapel, with Pastor Robert G. Henry Jr., of Phillips Temple. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery.
