Madonna M. Sharpe, 97, formerly of St. Marys, died at 3:19 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2017, at the residence of her daughter Martha (Bob) Yocum in Geneva, Ind. She was born on Oct. 11, 1919, in Decatur, Ind., to Orval and Rose (Elzey) Lenhart. On Dec. 20, 1941, in Mendon, she married Minos R. Sharpe, who died on Sept. 6, 1994. Survivors include: sons, Michael Sharpe of Spencerville and Jeffrey (Julie) Sharpe of Spencerville; daughters, Martha (Bob) Yocum of Geneva, Ind., and Peggy (Kirk) Figley of Lobelville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Bev Sharpe of St. Marys; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Deloris) Lenhart of Camas, Wa.; sister, Martha Connely of Decatur, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Imolu Lenhart of Decatur, Ind., and Misako Lenhart of Oroville, Calif. She was preceded in death by: parents, Orval and Rose Lenhart; husband, Minos Sharpe; son, Jerry Sharpe; grandson, John Hudson; daughter-in-law, Lynne Houts Sharpe; brothers, Herman Lenhart and William Lenhart. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Wren-Union High School. She was a homemaker, who had previously worked for Huffy Bicycle Mfg. Co. in Celina, Sharp Canning Co. in Rockford and The Lima News. During World War II, she worked for International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars in Mendon. Her favorite pastimes included fishing and sewing. Funeral rites are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), in St. Marys, with Kevin Koeper, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
