May 27, 1930 - October 13, 2016. After receiving her Nursing Degree in 1950 from the Baton Rouge General she devoted much of her life to caring for others. She worked at New Orleans Charity Hospital, Baton Rouge General, as a State Inspector for Nursing Homes, Hammond State School, while finishing her career at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond, La as the Director of Nurses. Known as "Mrs. "E" at Belle Maison she returned in 2012 to be cared for by many of those who had previously worked for her until her death. She was 86 years old and a Member of Mangum Chapel United Methodist Church in Walker and of the Retired LA Nursing Association. In the midst of her nursing career she took time off and devoted herself to her husband's career by managing the Ritz Theatre in Hammond. Visitation will be conducted at Seale Funeral Home located in Livingston LA on Sunday October 16, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and Monday, October 17, from 8:00-10:00 am with services being conducted by Pastor Renee Deaton pastor of Mangum Chapel UMC. Interment to be held at the Sibley Cemetery in Walker, LA. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law Terri and E.A. Covington of Walker, daughter and friend Judy Edwards and Joselynn Canizaro of Walker, daughter Janet Edwards of Tampa, FL, son and daughter-in-law Jesse and Jasmine Edwards Jr. of Tampa, FL, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband Jesse T Edwards, Sr., daughter Antoinette "Toni" Kanter, son John "Bubba" Edwards, an infant son, and parents Lela Mae and Monroe Sibley Jr. Pallbearers are E.A. Covington, Rusty McKinney, John Boulahanis, David Sibley, Paul Guitreau, and Lester Thompson.
