M. Louise Martin
M. Louise Martin, 91, Monticello, passed away Oct. 13, 2016, at the Legacy of White Oak Health Campus of Monticello. She was born March 23, 1925, in Largo, to the late Charles J. and Lydia G. (Ferris) Purdy. On Oct. 15, 1944, in Wabash, she married Jack F. Martin; he passed away on Oct. 24, 1972. Louise was born and raised in Largo and moved to the Monticello area in the 1950's. She had worked at the White County REMC, White County Assessor's Office, and the USDA Farmers Home Administration, all of Monticello. Louise was a member and a past president of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the Order of Eastern Star, Crystal Chapter #165, both of Monticello. She attended the First Presbyterian Church and the United Methodist Church, both of Monticello. Surviving are children, Jane (Alan) Gangwer, Pittsboro, Patricia "Patty" Martin, Monticello, and David (Janet) Martin, Farmington Hills, Mich.; grandson, Kirk (Gail) Gangwer, North Salem; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Madsen of Dwight, Ill. Louise was preceded in death by two sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Delta Theta Tau Sorority Service, followed by the Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.
