Lynn J. Wilburn
Lynn J. Wilburn was born on August 19, 1947 in Wakefield to the late Mr. and Mrs. Slater Johnson (Elsie F. Hazard). Lynn departed this life on Dec. 8, 2016 after a bout with lung cancer. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Miss Marcia Johnson. Lynn graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1965. She began her studies at the University of Rhode Island in 1965. In August 1968, Lynn left school to marry Vernon B. Walter (whom she met at URI) and moved to New York. From that union, she and Bruce had two daughters, Amy L. Hanson and Shelby F. Randolph. In 1971 they returned to RI. Lynn earned her bachelor's degree in Education from URI in 1975 and the family of four returned to NY. In 1978, Lynn found her long term employer, the Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO). Lynn quickly moved up the ladder to eventually become a manager. She retired as a manager in the Training Department in 2002 after the merge with KeySpan. While at the Training Center, in 1984 Lynn and Bruce divorced. Lynn dated and later married Lawrence B. Wilburn in March 1986, whom she leaves behind to cherish and reflect on the beautiful memories of 30 years of marriage; her two daughters, Amy and Shelby (Jeffrey Vincent); two stepchildren, Jeffrey (Crissy) and Jennifer (George); five granddaughters, Tiambae', Larissa, Kira, Amira, and Neena; one step-granddaughter, Kayla; one great-granddaughter, Kaliya; a sister-in-law, Melanie (Roosevelt); her best girlfriends: Frances, Beverly, Bethany, Jean, Gail and Linda; and a host of other family and friends. Lynn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her friends, reading, cooking, flowers, and sitting on her deck. She touched many lives while on this earth. To God be the Glory!
