MONROE Lynn Lee Edwards Monroe passed away on February 11, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was surrounded by her sons and husband when she was called by our heavenly Father into eternal life. Lynn was born on May 10, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William and Mary Lee Edwards. She spent summers at Woman Lake in Minnesota and loved swimming and waterskiing throughout her life. Lynn attended William Woods in Fulton, Missouri. In 1965, she met her husband Bob Monroe, a graduate of Westminster College (Fulton). Lynn and Bob were married in 1967. Following his graduation from law school, they moved to Overland Park, Kansas in 1975, where they settled and raised their family. Lynn was a caring, compassionate and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read, swim, knit, and travel. Lynn and Bob traveled to St. Martin, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Arizona often. She treasured her annual trips to Destin with all of her children and grandchildren. Lynn was an avid golfer and played almost daily with her friends at Brookridge Golf and Fitness. Lynn is preceded by her parents, William and Mary Lee Edwards and her brother William Thomas Edwards, Jr. She is survived by her husband C. Robert Monroe, sons Jason (Carissa), Matt (Kelly), adopted nephew Brady (Amy), her ten grandchildren: Sydney, Max, Collin, Katherine, Jake, Molly, Riley, Matthew, Alex and Mary Jane, and her mother-in-law, Martha Monroe. The grandchildren loved Grandma Lynn so much, as did all of her friends and family. Lynn will be greatly missed. The entire family thanks all of our friends that have shown support, love and caring to us during this difficult time. A mass for Lynn will be held at Cure of Ars in Leawood, Kansas at 11:30am on Friday, February 24, 2017. Mass will be followed by a celebration of Lynn's life at Blue Hills Country Club from 1:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Lynn's honor to Cure of Ars Catholic Church/School.
