Lynn Shorty Maddox BIG SPRING-Lynn Shorty Maddox, 74, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. He was born to Raymond and Wanda Maddox on Oct. 27, 1942, in Tulia, Texas, and married Mary LaVerne Morris on Dec. 2, 1960, in Lenorah, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1993. Shorty served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1968. He came to Big Spring in 1968 and was an electrician by trade. He was a member of the Greenlawn Church of Christ in Lubbock and was baptized on his 74th birthday in the fountain on the LCU campus. Shorty was also a member of the Staked Plains Lodge 598 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed animals, camping, hunting and being in the outdoors. He loved his family. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Maddox and wife, Kim of Big Spring, and Marray Maddox and wife, Sarah of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Nick Maddox and wife, Kellee, Nathan Maddox and wife, Sabrina, Malori Rogers and husband, Tyler, Peyton Maddox and Maci Maddox; and three great-grandchildren, Aeva Maddox, Conor Maddox and Aiden Maddox. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sherry Maddox; and one brother, Ronnie Maddox. The family would like to thank Dennis and Vanessa for the excellent care and friendship given to Shorty in these last years.
