In memory of
Lynn Kaufmann Griffith
Lynn Kaufmann Griffith Jun. 9, 1968 - Feb. 26, 2017 Resident of Thousand Oaks Lynn Kaufmann Griffith passed away peacefully on February 26, 2017. She was 48 years old, and valiantly fought her lengthy illness. Lynn was born in Evanston, Ill. And lived in St. Charles, Ill., Villa Park, CA., Danville, CA., and Thousand Oaks, CA., where she passed away. She is survived by her 22 year old twin daughters, Alexa and Ashley Griffith; parents, Paul and Joan Kaufmann; uncle, John O'Shaughnessy; and cousins, Kelly (Scott) Sipe, and John (Julie) O'Shaughnessy, Jr.; and her former husband, Rick Griffith. Lynn spent her growing up years in Danville and graduated from San Ramon Valley High School in 1986, where she was active in USA and varsity swimming and dancing. She attended USC, and later in life graduated from cosmetology school. Being a hair stylist was the career she was meant to have. But, her true love was being a mother, and she provided unconditional love to her daughters. Her home was the center of attraction to all of the girls' friends, and they all loved her like a mom. Lynn loved Hawaii, especially the Island of Maui. She loved swimming and snorkeling in the ocean, as well as listening to the surf while she slept. Everything about Hawaii appealed to her. Lynn was a beautiful, very warm, and captivating person. She would reach out and help anyone in need, whether it was her girls' friends, her co-workers, veterans, or people she met in a store. She also loved everything about nature and animals. She had two dogs who were very special to her. She had an electric personality, and she was generally regarded as a sweet, thoughtful, and caring person to all who touched her life. Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Mark, who left a lasting impression on her, and by her grandparents, Helen and John O'Shaughnessy, and Alma and George Kaufmann; and by her aunt, Nancy O'Shaughnessy, and her cousin, Richard O'Shaughnessy. A Memorial and Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Chapel at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette on March 18 at 10:30 am. A reception will follow next to the Chapel, and all are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, Lynn requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors. Lynn was a true patriot. Whenever she saw a person in uniform, she always thanked them for their service to our country. Aloha dear Lynn! You will be sorely missed by your daughters, your parents, and your many friends.
