SHERMAN, Louise McCall Ms. Louise McCall Sherman passed away at her home in San Leana on February 14, 2017. She was born in Austin on October 1, 1922 and was a lifelong resident of Travis County. Her mother, Alma Seeling McCall and her father, William Carrington McCall, and her husband of 49 years, Jack D. Sherman preceded her in death. Louise was a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin with bachelor and master's degrees in education. She taught school for 39 years with most of that time spent at Allison and Joslin elementary schools. She was a lifelong member of the National Education Association and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's sorority. She was a charter member, deaconess and elder of the Central Christian Church in Austin where she also sang in the choir for 32 years. She was passionate in her love for animals, especially collies, short hair fox terriers and cats. She also loved horses and was an accomplished rider. Her other talents included oil painting and gardening. Memorial donations to the Central Christian Church of Austin or to the no-kill animal shelter, Austin Pets Alive, in lieu of flowers are appreciated. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a visitation at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745.
