Sister Louise (Sr. Rosamond) Hune
Hune, Sister Louise (Sr. Rosamond) 90, a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph, entered eternal life January 11, 2017. The eldest of four children, she was born in Salina, KS to Adolph R. and Dorothy Nedeau Hune on June 25, 1926. Her education through 9th grade was in Salina, KS and when the family moved to Wichita she attended and graduated from Cathedral High School. On March 19, 1945, she was received into the Congregation of St. Joseph in Wichita, KS and was given the name of Sister Mary Rosamond, a name she used until returning to her birth name in the late 1960's. She earned a B.S. in Education from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, M.A. from University of Notre Dame, and M.A. in Government from Claremont Graduate University, Claremont, CA. Sister Louise was a lifelong educator with 23 years of teaching assignments in Wichita diocesan elementary and high schools. This was followed by 20 years at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City. After caring for her mother for a number of years, Sister Louise, moved to Mt. St. Mary's Convent where she became the Archivist from 1992-1997. Her final years of retirement were spent in Marian Hall assisting at the reception desk. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold; and sister, Phyllis Dugan. In addition to members of her congregation, she is survived by her sister, JoAnn Davis Jung; nieces, Debbie Chamberlain, Coleen Dugan, and Julie Scott; and nephew, Richard Hune. Homecoming will be 3 p.m. followed by the Wake Service at 6 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017; The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, all at the Wichita Center of the Congregation of St. Joseph.
