BELMONT - Louise Wingate Hicks, 91, died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Oct. 11, 2016, at Stanley Total Living Center. She was a native of Belmont and was a member of Catawba Heights Church of God. Louise worked for the Orthopedic Hospital in Gastonia and Holy Angels. After her retirement, she continued to enjoy taking care of people. A service to celebrate her life will be held 4 p.m. Friday at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont Bumgardner Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Joel Collette and George Miller. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Danny and Linda Darlene Hicks; sister, Pauline Barker; grandchildren, Tami Norris and husband, Jason, Crystal Venable, Angel Register and husband, Derek; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Spencer and Chandler Norris, Gracie and Abby Venable, Kylee and Easton Register; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose Hicks, son, Darrell Hicks, brother, Ed Wingate and sister, Edna Mae Wellman. Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
