Louis W. Pyle Naples, FL Louis W. "Bill" Pyle passed March 5, 2017 at home in Bentley Village after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on May 27, 1931 to Ernestine and Louis Snyder and later adopted by George Pyle. Bill was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Swissvale High School and graduated from Penn State with a degree in petroleum engineering. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, George. Bill joined the Navy on Jan. 20, 1955 and became a Navy pilot. He was a loyal Navy man. Bill and his wife, Nancie, met in Chincoteague, VA and married in 1957. Bill taught at the Naval Academy, spent time in Gitmo, Cuba, NAS Jacksonville, FL, and Meridian, MS. For two years, while his wife and sons were in Guam, Bill flew in and out of Vietnam and Australia. He retired in Washington, DC as Secretary of the Navy's pilot. Bill and Nancie bought a 42 ft. sailboat and sailed the Bahamas for 2 years, then sailed to Marco Island and retired there. Bill and Nancie moved to Bentley Village four and one-half years ago and were active in the Bentley Thrift shop until a month before his death. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancie; his son, Bill and grandchildren, Myrissa and Trevor of Steamboat Springs, CO; his son, Chris and wife Genevieve of Marco Island; and grandchildren, Spencer and Shelby. He was passionate and proud of his family and will be remembered by the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye. A memorial service will be held in the Palmetto Room at Bentley Village, 850 Retreat Drive, Naples on Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611, Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105, or First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, 9751 Bonita Beach Rd.
