Louis D. Augustine, 89, of Montrose, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Gracious Living Estates. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Lou Augustine on August 11, 2012. He was also predeceased by his father, Bernardino Di Agostino; his mother, Antonetta (Pilosi) Di Agostino; his sisters, Margaret Augustine, Rose Cappucci and Theresa Aulisio; and his brother, John Augustine. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Stephen English and daughter, Cindy Lou Augustine, of Montrose; granddaughter, Katherine English of San Francisco, Calif.,; and grandson, Daniel English of Montrose. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Grace Augustine, and Benjamin and Joan Augustine; many nieces and nephews, including two nephews who were especially close to him, Victor Cappucci and Joseph Aulisio. Lou was veteran of the Korean conflict, a lifelong dairy farmer and quarryman. He worked extremely hard all of his life and continued to mow 60 acres of hay until he was 85 years old. Lou was a talented athlete playing baseball in the local farm leagues into his mid-30s and had a tryout with the Oneonta Indians, the Cleveland Indians farm team. He was an avid football and baseball fan cheering on the NY Giants, New England Patriots and St. Louis Cardinals. Lou was a lifelong Democrat and was looking forward to voting for Hillary Clinton in November. Lou loved his family, his dogs and cats, his farm and his Farmall tractors. Lou's family wishes to thank all of his kind and compassionate caregivers who were a blessing to us: Tammy Clapper, Madison Legg Moyer, Krista Clapper, Eleanor Johnson and all of the staff at Gracious Living Estates. His family also wishes to thank the staff at Perkin's Restaurant in Tunkhannock and the staff at Bingham's Restaurant in Lenox for their special kindness to him. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Jim Nowik officiating. Interment will be in the Montrose Cemetery.
