Louis P. Adams
Louis P. "Lou" Adams, 85, of Vandergrift, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born April 2, 1931, in East Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Paul and Susan (Lizik) Adamcik. Lou lived between East Vandergrift and Vandergrift his whole life. He was a 1949 graduate of Vandergrift High School and served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean War. Lou was employed by Babcock and Wilcox and the Kiski Area School District. He was the groundskeeper of Davis Field until 2014. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joanne (Cheslak) Adams, who passed away in 2005; brother, John Adamcik; and sister, Angela (Adamcik) Zogas. Lou is survived by his children, Janice (David) Allman, of Allegheny Township, and Maureen (Doug Cherry) Adams, of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Alexandra Allman, of Pittsburgh, and Joshua (Amanda Chieffe) Pugliese, of Greensburg, and Zachary (Britni) Pugliese, of Sarver; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Isaac Pugliese; sisters, Marie Linkes, of Leechburg, and Patty Fryer, of Spring Church; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, in the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Parting prayers will take place at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, with Father James Loew, OSB. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum, Vandergrift, where full military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
