LORRAINE FLOOD Lorraine Flood Lorraine Mary Flood, née Rygiewicz, died peacefully at home on Friday April 7, 2017. She is survived by her sister, Andrea Rygiewicz Gulias; her brother, Robert Rygiewicz; and by her daughters: Lita Flood-Werling and Jennifer (Flood) Polczynski. Her late son, Richard Flood passed away in 2014. She was a devoted mother, a beloved aunt, a grandmother and a great grandmother and will be missed by many close friends. She was born in South Chicago Hospital in 1940 to Stephen & Jean Rygiewicz. She learned how to work hard but also how to find the fun and happiness in life. She worked fifteen years at US Steel South Works Plant, where she was the first woman elected to the Credit Unions Board of Directors and wrote for the SEA Union Paper. She always had additional part-time jobs and worked 6 or 7 days a week to support her three children. Lorraine loved to dance - she could dance anyone under the table. She had a wicked sense of humor, created original songs about her friends, and even did perfect impersonations. She loved animals and people and hated cruelty to either. She shared her lifelong love of music, movies (especially John Wayne!) and live theatre with her children. May she rest in eternal peace. Lorraine Floods 76-year life will be honored at a requiem Mass at St. Hedwigs Polish National Church, Saturday May 6 at 3PM, 3320 E 134th in Chicago.
