Lola Faye Gilmore LUBBOCK-Lola Faye Gilmore, 69, of Lubbock departed her earthly vessel for her heavenly mansion on March 10, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center. Lola was born on Jan. 14, 1948, in Littlefield, Texas, to Doris Woodard and Ceaser Gilmore. Lola grew up in Lubbock where she graduated from Estacado High School in 1970. Lola attended and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta. Lola worked as a lifelong Social Worker in various capacities: Chaplin, Hospice Social Worker, Activity Director and Case manager. Lola worked at Lubbock MHMR, Lubbock Housing Authority, Covenant Health System and Vista Care Hospice for 15 years until her retirement in Oct. of 2015. She is survived by her mother, Doris Parrish; two sisters, Brenda Hargers (A.D.), and Cecil Eddington (Henry); four daughters, Terri Gilmore, Angela Mosley (Rexon Sr.), NaTahsa Parker (Lamar), and Andrea Ware; one son, Daniel Johnson Jr. (Deidra); 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, at St. John United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
