LOIS MARGUERITE BLOEDEL WRIGHT Lois Marguerite Bloedel Wright of Dumfries, VA, beloved matriarch and exceptional woman, passed away on Monday February 13, 2017, due to complications related to old age. Born December 17, 1922, the oldest daughter of Reverend Hugo and Ruth Bloedel, Lois was a passionate and committed member of the Lutheran Church, first in parishes where her father served as minister (including Chicago), later in life as a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hyattsville. Committed to service, Lois was instrumental in feeding and creating a shelter for the homeless; and welcoming and incorporating into the church immigrants from Vietnam, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Guyana, Liberia and other countries - many of whom remained lifelong friends. She worked until her retirement at the Counseling Center at the University of Maryland, College Park. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin (2010) as well as her oldest son Ben (2015), the longtime beloved football coach at Thomas Johnson HS in Frederick, MD. She is survived by her sons Thomas (Washington, D.C.), James and wife Margaret (Palmetto, FL), Richard and wife Claudia (Dumfries, VA) and daughter Carol LaFever and husband Rene (Seattle, WA). She is also survived by grandchildren Amanda Wright, Damian Wright and wife Patricia (and their son Matthew Benjamin), and by Morgan LaFever and her daughter Annabelle Rose. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 12 noon at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3799 East-West Highway, Hyattsville, MD.
