In memory of
Lois Ann Tait
Lois Ann Tait May 21, 1923-Feb. 16, 2017 San Jose After close to 94 years, Lois Ann (Jones) Tait passed away on February 16th, 2017. Lois Ann was beloved by all for her quick wit, sharp mind, warm compassionate heart, and love of chocolate. Born in 1923 near Colorado Springs, Lois Ann was the youngest of three daughters of Louise (Laubmann) Jones, a schoolteacher, and Rev. William Jones. When the family relocated to California, Lois Ann thrived in the sunshine, excelling in her studies, music, and sports. After graduating from Vista High in 1941, she attended San Diego State, majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Music. When World War II ended, she married Owen Franklin Tait, taught at Corona High, and had three children, Kathy, William, and Jean. In 1962, Lois Ann became something rare in those times — a single mom. With fierce determination, she returned to San Diego State to acquire a Master's Degree in counseling. Her first job as a High School Counselor brought her to northern California and Westmont High where she remained until her retirement in 1985, helping thousands of students while raising her own kids. In retirement, Lois Ann enjoyed travel, cultural events and women's sports, especially the San Jose Symphony, San Jose Lasers and Stanford Women's Basketball. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Lasers and the women's sports magazine Real Sports. She is survived by her family: daughter Kathy Tait Jakel, her husband Jim and his brother, David; son Bill Tait, his wife Lisa and their sons Alex and Bradley; and daughter Jeannie Tait. At Lois Ann's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Symphony Silicon Valley. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 22, 2017 at the Dolce Hayes Mansion, 200 Edenvale Ave, San Jose, starting at 1:30pm. View the online memorial for Lois Ann Tait ... Show More
