NEWMARKET - Lois Burdin Norris, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Havelock, North Carolina. Lois was born July 30, 1928, in Strong, Maine, to Howard and Mary Burdin. Lois married Ray Norris in December 1946, and settled down in Hampton, New Hampshire, where she worked at the Sugar and Spice Bakery and Jerry's Restaurant. She and Ray also managed The Lookout in Ogunquit, Maine. After retiring to Newmarket, New Hampshire, Lois could often be seen working in her flower garden or walking to the Newmarket Public Library. Winters were spent in Zephyrhills, Florida, at Tippecanoe Village. Lois is survived by her three sons: Barry of Union, Maine; Randy of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; and Greg of Havelock, North Carolina; her sister Dorothy Reynolds of Farmington, Maine; grandchildren Wayne Norris; Christopher Norris; Matt Norris; Erin True; Kevin Taveirne; Kristen Georgi; sister-in-law Leona Estes of Norway, Maine. She was predeceased by her husband Ray, parents Howard and Mary Burdin, sisters Viola McCray and Kathleen Shaw, and Brothers Norman Burdin and Malcolm Burdin. Special friends who will greatly miss her include Walter and Dot Loyas, Jack and MaryLou McGinley, James and Sarah Nelson, and John and Marie Van Guilder and family. SERVICES: A family graveside service will be held on October 23, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the Buckfield-Damon Cemetery, Buckfield, Maine. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Lois' name may be made to the Newmarket Public Library, 1 Elm Street, Newmarket, New Hampshire, 03857.
