Lionel Sicotte
Lionel Sicotte, 82, of Derby passed away on Friday October 14, 2016. He was born in Ste. Hyacinthe, Quebec on June 22, 1934. He was the son of the late Auguste and Florina (Tetreault) Sicotte. He moved to Westfield, Vt. in 1940 where he worked and operated a dairy farm along with family members. The farm was sold in 1958 and he moved to Newport, Vt. One of his great passions was playing the violin along with his sister Jeannine on the piano and his brother Johnny on the drum. He attended Newport Center High School and graduated from Champlain College with an Associates Degree in Business. Upon graduation he moved to South Burlington, Vt. There he worked for many years selling real estate for the Allen Agency in Burlington, Vt. In 1985 he, along with his brother Johnny Sicotte, bought the "Pierre Motel" in Barre, Vt. The motel was sold in 2000 and he moved to Derby, Vt. and worked at the Newport Country Club for several years. He was a devoted brother and uncle to his family, nieces and nephews and a member of St Mary's parish in Newport, Vt. Lionel is survived by his sister Jeannine Sicotte of Derby Line. His nephews Richard Sicotte and wife Linda of Rocky Hill, Ct., Raymond Sicotte of Colchester, Vt., Reynold Sicotte and wife Francine of Newport, Vt., Marc Sicotte and wife Gail of Lowell, Vt. and Sylvain (Fred) Sicotte and wife Sandi of Colchester, Vt. and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Suzanne Sicotte, his brother Johnny Sicotte, his brothers and sister-in laws, Guy and Marie Jeanne Sicotte and Albert and Helene Sicotte. Calling hours will be Saturday, October 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Curtis–Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home 4670 Darling Hill Road. in Newport, Vt. Funeral services will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Lowell, Vt.
