Lionel Princenthal GREENBAUM
GREENBAUM, Lionel Princenthal Lionel Princenthal Greenbaum, 88, of West Palm Beach, died at home on October 14, 2016. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1928 to Dr. Harold and Miriam Greenbaum, Lionel was the elder of two sons. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration. Afterwards, he attended night law school at Cleveland State University for two and a half years. He also served eight years in the Ohio National Guard, acquiring the rank of first lieutenant. As a young adult, Lionel developed a particular interest in the stock market and investing. Lionel was employed by Merrill Lynch for 47 years during which he managed an office in Cleveland, Ohio and later managed a complex of branches in Palm Beach County, Florida. He retired as a Merrill Lynch senior vice president in 1999. An active and involved resident, he served on the following boards in Cleveland and/or Palm Beach County: The Jewish Federation, United Way, Jewish Vocational Service, Bellefaire JCB, Cleveland Sight Center, Morse Life of the Palm Beaches, Jewish Community Center of Palm Beach, and the Palm Beach Habilitation Center. Lionel was also a member of the Economic Council, Palm Beach County, past president of the Palm Beach Festival, and a member of the Palm Beach Country Club. Lionel is survived by his son, Steven Greenbaum and daughter-in-law, Deborah, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, two grandsons, John Ryan Greenbaum and Andrew Greenbaum, two granddaughters, Malinda Hlavenka and Caroline Greenbaum, his brother, James Greenbaum and sister-in-law, Peggy, of Rancho Mirage, California, three step-children and eight step-grandchildren. Lionel was preceded in death by his second wife, Carol, his first wife, Dorothy, his son, Thomas, and his daughter, Linda. A family visitation will be held on Wednesday October 19th at 10:30AM on the second floor of Temple Israel in West Palm Beach followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM in the sanctuary. A funeral procession will follow to Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach where there will be a short graveside service. Shiva will be observed Wednesday, October 19th from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at Temple Israel, 1901 N. Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lionel's memory may be made to the Palm Beach Habilitation Center, the Alpert Jewish Family & Children's Service of Palm Beach, and Temple Israel.
