Linda L. Morton Durham
Linda L. Morton Durham, 75, of Harriman, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at her home. Linda was a retired nurse for the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after 31 years. In 1983 she was awarded the Brown Foundation Award for her excellence in clinical nursing. She also traveled to various states speaking on cancer rehabilitation for MD Anderson. She was a member of the Cardiff Baptist Church where she was in charge of children's church; and she also served as a volunteer at Roane Medical Center for several years. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Frank W. Morton and Artie Dickey Morton; and sister, Bobbie Sue (Cricket) Morton Buck. She is survived by brother, Jack Morton and wife Mildred of Harriman; nephew, Frank Maurice Morton and wife Melissa of Harriman; three nieces, Sandy Morton White and husband Jerry of Hickory, N.C., Vickie M. Wolfmeier and Kim Weaver of Georgia; six great-nieces and great-nephews, Kayla Willis, Cody Morton, Jordan White, Colton Weaver, Mitch Miller and Morgan Miller; four great-great-nephews, Cooper, Colt (Si), Brayden and Danny J; and special friends, Pauline Steelman of Harriman, and Margaret Carey of Houston. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman, with service to immediately follow with Benji Blakely, Matt Cannon and Roy Langley officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cardiff Baptist Church Building Fund. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
