In memory of
Leslie Jack "Bud" Hill
"You will tell the others that I am going home a little sooner than I thought. Then tell them not to talk about their loss, but to talk about the Savior. Do not cry and weep for me. My angel took me by the hand and led me home." Leslie Jack "Bud" Hill, 72, of Hornbrook, Pa., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday morning, April 13, 2017. "Bud" as he was known by his family and friends was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada of the Turtle Clan "Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory" on May 20, 1944, the son of Stanley E. and Murial J. Hill and was a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. He was very proud of his Native heritage. Bud retired from Penelec in 1993 where he was employed as a lineman. For the last six years he drove a school van for the Towanda School District. In earlier years, Bud played lacrosse, hockey and baseball and was a catcher for the Shannonville Hawks. He loved sports, "The Steelers," but most of all watching all of his grandchildren play sports. Bud leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Ann; his children, Michael and Stacy Hakes of Waverly, N.Y., Kim Soster of Arkansas, Cindy Rogers of Towanda, Patti and Donny Brinklow of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Canada, Jackie Gibson of Towanda, Lorie and Curt Gardner of Liberty Corners, Buffy Hill of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Canada, Turk and Barnette Taylor of Arkansas; 34 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Bud was predeceased by his mother, Murial Hill in 1990; father, Stanley Hill in 2007; sister, Velma Hill Dracup in 2015; son, Brian Keith Hakes in 2017; and granddaughter, Cindy "Skeeter" Rogers in 2007. Bud will be missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Assembly of God Church, Kingsbury Avenue, Towanda, Pa., with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Geiger and Pastor Timothy Geiger officiating.
