LEONARD LEWIS LAMPL Leonard Lewis Lampl, 76 of St. James passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 15, 2017. Mr. Lampl was born October 7, 1940 as the 9th of 10 children of Adam and Mary Lampl. He was a native of North Dakota and lived there until July 1961 when he enlisted in the US Army. After two and a half years, he was employed by Schlitz Corporation and later Anheuser Busch for 30 years. Leonard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sue Anderson Lampl; a son Brian Lampl and wife Laurie of Leesburg, VA; two daughters, Amy Szatanek and husband Jeffrey of Huntingtown, MD and Julie Liptak and husband John of Cary. He was the proud grandfather of Andrew, Paige, and Nick Lampl; Adam, Nathan, and Ben Szatanek; and Joey, Matthew, and Josh Liptak. He is also survived by his sister Margie Lampl Ganzer and husband Keith. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422. The funeral mass will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Trent Watts officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00pm prior to the service. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium and a reception will be held in the church gathering hall.
