Harris, Leonard Leonard "Lenny" Harris of Peekskill died on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the age of 94. Lenny believed the world could be a better, fairer place, devoted his life to making it so. Lenny grew up in Jamaica, Queens. He was the son of the late Isidore and Lena Feinberg. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then worked as an electrician for the New York Central Railroad, a teacher in the New York City public schools, and an administrative assistant for IBM. but more important to him were his efforts to better the world through personal activities and involvement in various community, civil rights and political organizations, including the Fair Housing Committee of Greenburgh, and the Ethical Culture Society of Westchester. Lenny was the loving husband of his wife Edith R. Shapiro, devoted father to his sons Jeffrey and Mark and daughter-in-law Flora, and cherished grandfather of Michael, Trevor and Cody. He was also loved by his step-son, Charles Shapiro, and step-daughter, Cindy Shapiro. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen and two sisters, Doris and Mickey. A private internment will take place at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale to be followed by a public memorial service at Drum Hill Senior Living Community, 90 Ringgold Street, Peekskill on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 3:00 pm.
