In memory of
PARKER - Leonard E. "Butch" Eakin, 73, of Petrolia, passed away suddenly Monday (Oct. 10, 2016) morning. Born in Bradford on May 15, 1943, he was the son of the late Leonard P. and Gertrude Nesnick Eakin. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1962. Following high school Butch was an owner - operator for over 33 years with Transport Services out of Parker, in which Butch accumulated over 1,200,000 miles driving the "Mayflower." Butch was a social member of the VFW Post #7073 as well as the American Legion in Brady's Bend. He was a member of the Masonic Canby Lodge #520 of St. Petersburg and Consistory of Coudersport. He was an avid NASCAR fan and had a passion for fishing. He especially enjoyed taking numerous fishing trips to Canada. He married Connie J. Swatsler Eakin on Aug. 26, 1961; she survives. In addition to his wife, he his survived by his two daughters: Sheila (companion Gerry) Eakin of Parker; Erin (Ed) Dunlap of Parker; one son: Jeffrey (Deborah) Eakin also of Parker; two sisters, Audrey Irons in Colorado; and Sandra (George) Lindy of Bradford; one brother Robert (Kay) Eakin of Lewis Run; and a brother-in-law Terry (Donna) Swatsler in Tennessee; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends of Mr. Eakin may visit from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home (201 S. Wayne St.) in Parker. Funeral service will be the following day at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
