LEON RAMEY, 100, of Athalia, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Abbyshire Place, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born April 14, 1916, in Wayne County, W.Va., to the late Henry and Rosa Clay Ramey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Avanelle Ramey; son, Gary Rex Ramey; grandson, Gary Dean Ramey; and nine siblings. He was a member of Athalia Dillon Chapel Church, a WWII Army veteran and a Mason of Crown City Lodge. Leon retired from Owens-Illinois. He is survived by three sons, Lee Roy (Sheila) Ramey of Athalia, Myron Ray (Rebecca) Ramey of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Forrest Rom (Sue) Ramey of Gallipolis, Ohio; one daughter, Valeria (Gerald) Shockley of Chesapeake, Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen (Arlie) Ramey of Proctorville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio, by Pastor Randy Henderson. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Miller, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at the funeral home.
