Leo John Shannon Sr.
Leo John Shannon Sr., 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Kingston on Oct. 16, 2016, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 20, 1930 and grew up in Georgetown. He was the youngest of five children of Marie (Toole) and John P. Shannon, who was the Supervising Principal of schools in Georgetown. He was a devoted and loving brother to his four siblings, John, Mary, Joseph and Eleanor (Lynn). As a child he enjoyed spending summers at the Georgetown Settlement Camp, where he made lifelong memories and friendships. He graduated from Wilkes-Barre Township High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served from 1948 to 1952. He embodied the Marine Corps Moto, Semper Fi (Always Faithful). After serving he attended King's College and passed his Real Estate Exam. He later became a Broker and concentrated in commercial real estate for over 50 years. He owned Shannon Real Estate Co., Kingston. He married the love of his life, Dolores (Murray) in 1954 and raised four children, Leo J. Jr., John P., DeeAnn (husband Douglas Rush) and Marie (husband Eric Bealla). He has five adoring grandchildren, Shane, Brianna, Eric, Emma and Sydney, who will miss him dearly. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
