Leo F. Schouweiler
Leo F. Schouweiler, 94, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview. He was born Aug. 26, 1922, at the family home in Kellogg, Glascow Township, Wabasha County, the son of Paul and Agnes (Graner) Schouweiler. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1939; he worked on the family farm and hauled milk for Kellogg Creamery. On Sept. 29, 1945, he married Alice Blee at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg. She preceded him in death in 1988. On Dec. 30, 1989, he married Karen "Kay" Harlan at Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester. Leo worked for Consolidated Breeders and Midwest Breeders for many years. He started driving school bus in 1969 and later became owner/operator. Surviving are his wife, Kay, of Rochester; daughters, Janice Lewis, of Plainview, Margaret (Melvin) Schneider, of Elgin, and Mary (Jay) Siewert, of Byron; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Lorraine Hill, of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Alice Hall, of Winona; one brother, Paul (Anita) Schouweiler, of Kasson; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Schouweiler and Toni Schouweiler, both of Kellogg, and LaVonne (Lenny) Feuling, of Wanamingo. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert and Gary; and two brothers, John and Donald. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Plainview. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation continues one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at the church. Burial at St. Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg.
