Lee Merritt Thompson, son of CDR Guy Merritt Thompson Jr (U.S. Navy, Ret.) and Rita-Marie Spaulding Thompson, died Tuesday, Feb 7, 2017, of heart disease, at his residence in Dallas. Born January 27, 1948, Lee grew up as a military child. He was born in Palo Alto, Calif., and attended schools in Rhode Island, Tenn., and Hawaii before moving to Fort Worth in 1959. There he graduated from Paschal High School, class of 1966, and Texas Christian University, class of 1970. He proudly served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1982, including a tour in Vietnam. After the Air Force, he worked for the Sewell Automotive Group in Dallas and held assorted positions in security. Survivors: Mother, Rita-Marie Thompson of Fort Myers, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Anne Peck and Ron Peck of Belleville, Ill.; and 13 cousins in the Fort Myers, Fla, area. Interment: Friday, Feb. 17, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with his fellow veterans.
