Larry Wallace, 65, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Larry was born June 12, 1951, to Betty and Harold Wallace, the second of four children. He was active in Boy Scouts, where he received the merit of Eagle Scout and graduated from Ross Sterling High School in Houston. Larry attended Stephen F. Austin State University and received a bachelor's degree in law enforcement from Southwest Texas State University. Larry then became a police officer, followed by retail management positions with Oshman's Sporting Goods and Harbor Freight Tools. After suffering a stroke in 2004, he retired and became a full-time grandpa to Matthew and Dominique, who were the joys of his life. He enjoyed reading, old movies, oldies music, leathercrafts, and especially woodworking. Larry had a gentle soul and compassionate heart. He never said no to helping a friend and could fix almost anything. Larry was preceded in death by his father, William Harold Wallace, and infant daughter, Andrea Nicole. Survivors: He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 44 years; son, William "Billy" Kassel; daughter, Ashley Michelle; grandchildren, Matthew Donovan and Dominique Nicole; mother, Betty Williamson Wallace; brother, Scott Wallace and wife, Linda; sisters, Marilyn Shealey and husband, Glenn, and Kim Lewis and husband, Jim; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Don Sroufe.
