Mero, Lawrence (Larry, Smokey, Sonny) Larry passed away on January 28, 2017 at 86 years of age. He was born in Miami, Fl. On November 25, 1930. He was raised in Miami and spent almost all of his adult life there. Larry attended Coral Way Elementary, Shenandoah Jr. High, Miami High, Florida State University and graduated from The University of Miami after a short stint in the military. He played football for both Miami High, where he was selected for ALL CITY, and FSU. In his 40 years of working for NCR Corporation, Larry attained the honor of #1 salesperson in the world and retired as the manager of the Banking Division in Miami. A lifelong lover of the water and competitive sailboat racing, he was a member of Coral Reef Yacht Club and a past Commodore. Larry will be forever missed by his many friends. He never met a stranger and was always available to anyone who needed his help. Many stories and jokes were laughed at over a rum and coke with friends and family. Larry was a lover of all animals but especially dogs. In his retirement, he spent most of his time with rescue organizations helping find homes for strays or homeless dogs.
